Suddenly I am in the same boat - for no apparent reason or consistency, my 10 month old Axim x3i has started to randomly disconnect from the USB connection. Started happening about 5 days ago with no changes to my PC or Axim. I did a system restore on my PC to an earlier date and restored a backup on the Axim from an earlier date. No good. I am using a Dell cradle in a powered hub but found the same problem if I used a Dell USB cable in a different USB port on the PC. Running Windows XP SP2 with ActiveSync selected as a firewall exception. I have uninstalled and reinstalled ActiveSync 3.7.1. I have checked the USB settings on the PC and made sure the option to disconnect power to them was not checked. On the Axim, I have it set to maintain connection in the ActiveSync settings. Also in the PC ActiveSync settings, I have it set to sync manually. I have changed batteries and checked the connection ports and contacts. I have soft re-set the Axim and rebooted the PC numerous times and re-established partnerships. I am usually able to sync up fine and move files and so forth. Sometimes it will stay connected for hours, sometimes just minutes. Removing the Axim from the cradle and putting it back in re-connects for a random time. I used to be able to cradle the Axim and leave it overnight with no problems. I have searched these forums, Dell forums, and google and tried everything. I can't think of anything I haven't tried. Is there something I am missing? I would hate to exercise my warranty and get a replacement unit unless I absolutely had to. I am open to any suggetions.
