I have had a similar problem. I first tried a free program I found somewhere that does this (from Intel?), but it added a rather large logo. I now use QuickTime Pro and it works great. In QuickTime, you can Export... and select QuickTime to AVI. If you're using the Media Player that came with the Axim, it only plays WMV's. To get there, you'll have to use Windows Movie Maker (2 preferred - it has an option to resize and reframe and encode for PocketPCs. I've done a whole movie like this - ended up about 140MBs).
