Here's the result: I think it was Tengo keyboard that was sucking memory at an alarming rate, but with a twist. Only when I used tweaks2k2 to set it as the default keyboard, did that happen. I uninstalled tengo, the problem went away. I put it back on, the problem did not happen. I went to t2k2 and set it as default, and bingo- memory leaking like crazy. So I don't know if this is a problem with tengo or with tweaks2k2.
Thanks to those who looked and wrote or thought about it. Experience goes a long way.
