First of all, welcome.

It is easy to test if your CF card causes the problem. Just copy and paste the file to a Built in storage or main memory. And see if you could read the whole book.

Another way is to download some free .lit ebook and see if you could read the whole file. May be the Fictionwise's file is somehow corrupted. There is a great list in the ebook forum on free ebook sites.

BTW, I had no problem with MS Reader on X5. Up to version 2.2. But I couldn't get the 2.3 version activated on X50v. I switched to 3rd party reader in no time.
