However, when I am charging my battery for the first time, the power button turns green after only 1.5 hours. Does it mean it's fully charged? If so, why do I still need to charge it for another 6.5 hours? Thanks in advance!

According to the battery people it conditions the battery and if you don't do that you won't have a very good battery. I have seen a few people here say that this is bull and I am not so sure they aren't right but no one wants to push this and end up with a failed battery. So most are doing 8 hours on the first charge even though the light turns green. As far as the problems you are seeing I think I would do a good backup and then try a hard reset and see if it clears the problem.
