Yup that sounds like the problem. The flexi connector issue (as suffered by yours truely and many others). The fix works for me and is pretty simple.
From personal experience you have caught the issue early on. belive me when you get to the "D*mn thing wonk work again" mode you really get upset! Whoever solved this gets my eternal thanks!!!
