I would bet the problem is that your webmail provider is running Javascript, which isn't supported in PIE.
Do a google for the PPC browser called Netfront 3.1 (sorry, no link available...I'm at work). Netfront can handle some Javascript and 'might' let you use your webmail. It's not a free app, though, but I'm sure it has a trial version.
