However, preliminary data by different users shows that Kingmax 1GB 60x cards have a read speed of 6.8x-7.4x in Axims (X30s and X50s) which is pretty much par for the course...

But write speeds are at 0.01x, whereas other cards typical write from 0.08x to 0.10x. THAT is significant, and is where your errors are coming from. Clearly, the Axim has a write speed much faster than 0.01x.

I'm still hoping for data from Sandisk users, Panasonic users, and others.

Right now AGP and Lexar have the best performance. Again, data is limited.
