Internet radio is a good example. The server creates one of more consistent streams of data and clients subscribe to the stream.
Net Runner just does a big information grab and hopes for the best. Most of the time it works great too. But it's not really streaming, it's just opening the file over the network.

I do not agree with you 100%. When I am watching a video on my handheld that resides on my computer it downloads only a portion of the video in a buffer and the video starts to play (Streaming). The video is not being completely downloaded onto the handheld and then played. All that Net Runner is doing is making the network connection.
