I figured out a way to do what I want (more or less).

In Outlook 2003 go to Tools/Email Accounts/View or Change existing... Highlight the Exhange Server, and at the bottem of the window, change "deliver new e-mail to the following location: from your Mailbox to your personal folders.

That causes all the defaults, to switch to the personal folders, meaning the calendar data won't get stored on the server.

The downside to that is that I actually want my mail left on the server (I should be able to make my default mail location the server, but my default Calendar location my personal folders). But it's more or less workable. I could concievably use a filter to move mail back to the server. Or I'll have access to my old mail on the PocketPC, and can still see new mail on the server through the web interface.

Outlook is amazingly clunky. Just to mimick Palm Desktop's ability to hide completed items you have to right click on the Tasks list, select filter, and select a status of "not started". And I'd have to reverse the process to delete completed items.

Ugh. What a choice. A T5 with no Graffiti (hence PAINFUL text entry), no voice recorder, and no streaming media support. Or an x50 with a hidious interface on the desktop (and a clunky mobile interface). If I could just combine all the best features of a T5 and x50...
