I am using MMJ version 8 and it recognizes my Axim X5. As far as which program is better: If you like wma than by all means go with wmp10 for syncronizing. I never used the PDM in Musicmatch, but if you need to convert mp3's and copy them onto your X50v, I would use musicmatch.
This is what I did:
1. Put my SD card (which I keep my music on) in a card reader hooked directly to my computer.
2. Started up Musicmatch and went to the File => Covert files function.
3. Found my Music folder and selected the files I wanted converted.
4. Chose my SD card as the destination directory.
5. Chose a low bitrate (64kbps) for the converted files.
6. Selected "Start".
Musicmatch, with time, converted and copied all the music right onto the SD card. After it finished I simply took the card out of the reader and slapped it into my X5. Viola!
I used a card reader to speed up the copying due to Activesync's slow transfer speeds. Also, I don't believe musicmatch can see a storage card in your Axim when it is cradled. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
By using MMJ's conversion function instead of wmp 10's convertion function, I was able to avoid the automatic conversion of my mp3's to wma's while simultaneously converting the music to a more sutable bitrate for my pda. :approve:
