Syncronisation via the Dell USB cradle to my SD card was very slow but I purchased a USB Sync/Charge cable for £6.50 (pdamods.com) and that solved the speed issue.
BetaPlayer doesn't have the nicest interface (Media Player 10 with iPod skin looks nicer), but it is free and plays all the popular formats.

I didn't reazlie BetaPlayer played AAC. I thought only $$$ players did.
AAC is fine if you use Itunes, but you can't use it outside of Itunes. OGG on the other hand can be played in WMP, Winamp, and even itunes itself. It's a much more versatile medium.
