Some things to check.
Check to see how you have ActiveSync handling conflicts between your desktop and your PDA. Also, go into the properties for your Calendar in Outlook and either set the AutoArchive to "Do Not Archive" or "Permanently Delete". There is a similar settings in the main Tools>Options>Other tab and AutoArchive button.
While both are sync'd, delete the series out of both desktop and PDA. Reset the PDA and re-sync.
Also, there's a setting in AS that allows you to establish how far back to hold calendar appoints as well as tasks. Go to the Tools menu, then Options, then elect the Sync Options tab. Highlight the Calendar. Click on SETTINGS. You should see the options to Synchronize All Appointments, Synchronize only the past x past weeks of appointments and x future weeks of appointments, and finally the option to synchronize based on a filter. This only affects how they're sync'd (they could still remain in your desktop). A similar procedure can be used to manage old or completed tasks by selecting the Task options.
All of this is described in the ActiveSync manual.
By the way, some of us don't appreciate people throwing "I never had that problem with Palm" at us. I often find the primary problem people run into with an OS is that they didn't fully read the literature for it. This is particular true of those who cross from one OS or application to another, expecting everything to work the same way. What I might find quite UNintuitive on the Palm others find quite obvious, and vice versa with the PocketPC/Windows Mobile. Nearly everything in WM2k3 makes perfect sense to me in the context of knowing the Windows desktop. Not everyone feels that way, but I have to admit to being a bit resistant to aid those who play the Palm card.
However, this forum is established for those who can help others, so I truly hope one of my suggestions helps your sync issue. I'm betting going into the sync options for the Calendar will be your answer.
