It's the laptop battery that dies. Other than that everthing's fine. guess i will have to see about ordering an extra power cord for axim to keep at home. The way i have my arrangement setup now I guess the Axim is not as "wireless" as i would like. Don't really want to carry everything back and forth to work everyday, just in case i want to play with axim at home during the week(synching stuff that is). I just happen to hit upon the symptoms because i was reading email and surfing the web the second night and i decided to hook up the axim to try the internet out on it and then there goes the power a few minutes later. Surfed for over an hour before that. See my previous post for the %'s i was at. Oh well, on to the next experiment - Movies on my X5.

While you have the laptop and axim conected together and surfing, take a moment to check the battery status on the axim. does it tell you it is being charged, or depleted?
connecting usb devices will use extra power of the laptop because of the communication going on. Even just having PCMCIA cards in your laptop will use power, whether or not you are actually using them.
i have a microsoft optical mouse, and it is only usb connected, so the power is coming from somewhere. :)
i pop out or stop unused PCMCIA devices in the taskbar when i am trying to conserve battery power.
