Came up with following results (full screen):
149.68% 35.93 fps - Pocket TV 1.0.3
187.32% 44.91 fps - Betaplayer unstable .096 (sound disabled like PTV is)
Both programs are installed on main memory and video is on SD card.
What advantages does Pocket TV have over Betaplayer? It is not like I will encode full movies to mpegs anyway. Doing short clips does a mpeg at 640x480 look any better than a DivX or XviD file encoded at similar bit rates?

We did the test with the original (A01 10130400) ROM. We get benchmark results of 185% to 187%, the same as those of Betaplayer. Processor speed is set to Auto.
We will check what's happening with the new ROM. It is possible that some bug workaround that we had to implement with the old ROM have a negative effect with the new ROM.
The 2700G drivers in both ROM's are different, so that may be the explanation.
Can you try running both benchmarks with the processor speed set to Maximum, to see if it makes any difference ?
In any case, even the lower numbers that you observe are more than sufficient to play fullscreen VGA at full framerate, so it's more like an academic issue, but we will definitely look into that and do tests with the new ROM.

When playing MPEG files, PocketTV have features that do not exist in Betaplayer, and some people like them (e.g. http streaming, frame capture, frame stepping etc). It's just another choice of freeware, and having choice is always good.
