Yes, playing QVGA movies is always much faster than playing VGA movies on a QVGA Pocket PC.

When you play VGA movies on a QVGA Pocket PC (e.g. Axim x30):

1) The VGA video images needs to be decoded, which takes about 4 times more operations that decoding QVGA, because there are 4 times more pixels and 4 times more data to decode.

2) In addition, the VGA decoded video frames needs to be scaled down to QVGA, which cost even more operations.

When you play QVGA video on a QVGA device, the number of operations will be 4 time less (in fact even less than that), and the quality will be the same, because your display is QVGA.
