At wits end - the bluetooth problem

I swore I wouldn't need to write this - any bluetooth / networking problem was solvable with enough fiddling. Well I've fiddled for hours and I'm stumped.

I have an X50v and a Sony K700i phone with vodafone in the UK. The account is GPRS enabled. I have been unable to persuade the Dell to access the internet via the K700i.

I have followed both the guides on the vodafone site and the excellent guides on here (both Teds bluetooth guide and tabten5's guide on using a BT phone as a modem).

The bluetooth connection is working between the phone and the Dell as I can exchange business cards and exchange files.

The vodafone dial up seems to be working as I can access the internet via the BT phone using my laptop (which seems to require many fewer settings than the Dell!)

I have set up both the BT connection in BT manager and set up the connection in connections manager (including extra dial string etc). When I tap & hold the shortcut (in BT manager) K700i Dial-up networking it flips to the screen asking me to select my connection. No problem - select the one with all the vodafone settings (*99# etc etc). Hit ok. It shows as connecting and after a second'Connection established'. Then a pop up shows 'Connecting' and shows 'Dialing *99#' and progressing dots as is I'm dialing. Then it comes up with Cannot Connect for an unknown reason. It also generates the message 'Bluetooth Manager: The connection failed and could not be reestablished'.

Anyone got any ideas whether I have a bluetooth problem, a K700i problem, a Dell problem or a vodafone problem....?

Don't suppose anyone has an identical setup that could let me have their exact settings.

I've tried both soft and hard resets and the Dell has practically no software in it (Betaplayer, the two stock games and Magic Button)

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Dave
