I spoke with Dell today and i think we figured out a solution for the active sync lockup.

Click on the options button, then on the rules tab. at the bottom make sure the box next to "Open ActiveSync when my mobile device connects" is NOT checked.

It worked for me, now i have no problem, it seems to be working fine. I hope it stays that way.
