Ya take 'em with a grain of salt. In this case I'm wondering if anyone would really keep plugging away on a computer that was smoking out the back. If they're not smart enough to know that's a bad idea, then they're probably too technically illeterate to identify the power supply as the culprit.

Now that I think about it, I can't imagine the Tech Support response being "you need a new power supply." Probably something along the lines of "Please turn off your computer."
