I have closed out every other program in Windows except PocketDivx and it is still crashing. Anybody else had this problem or know of a way to fix it? Also, I know that there are several different methods for ripping DVD to PPC; however, I really would like to stick to this method and continue to use DVDShrink and PocketDivx together. Looks like PDE doesn't like your system (I've had similar problems). In the end I gave up using PDE and coughed up for Dr DiVx.
If you are converting from a DVD source, you could give FairUse a try:

The free version limits output size to a max of 700Mb but that won't be a problem for downsizing for a PDA. I've used it to convert a load of Futurama episodes from the DVD boxsets and they look great on my X30's screen.
