Settings are pretty subjective. Some people would rather sacrifice audio to have better video, and some people are just the opposite. Here are some settings to start with. In addition, I have a step-by-step process posted on 1SRC here.

For the settings below, I am assuming the memory card is blank. In addition, I only plan to adjust the audio bit rate and file size as noted in my artice on 1SRC. Thus, you will want to pay attention to the video bit rate that we recalculate when you adjust the audio bit rate and the file size. You can leave the screen size alone since Betaplayer scales the video very well.

256 MB Card
Length of Movie: 2 hours or less
Audio Bit Rate: 96 kbps
File Size: 242 MB

Length of Movie: 2 hours or more
Audio Bit Rate: 64 kbps
File Size: 242 MB

On any movie on a 256 MB card, video bit rates of 250kbps to 400 kbps are acceptable. If you are converting a lot that are closer to 200 kbps, you might try taking the audio bit rate down to 48 kbps. Other options including living with a 200 kbps video bit rate or getting a larger memory card.

512 MB Card
Length of Movie: 2 hours or less
Audio Bit Rate: 96 kbps
File Size: 484 MB

Length of Movie: 2 hours or more
Audio Bit Rate: 64 kbps
File Size: 484 MB

On movies 1 hour and 30 minutes or less, I suggest adjusting the file size until the video bit rate at top of screen comes down to around 600 kbps. Anything over 600 kbps is pretty much overkill in my opinion. However, the X50v can handle video bit rates up to 1500 kbps.

1 GB Card or Greater
Anyway greater than the settings for a 512 MB card are overkill in my opinion. However, you can get better quality video. It just depends on the device you have and what it can handle. The settings for the 256 MB are a good starting point even if you have a larger capacity card. For one, you can get more movies on a larger card. Two, if you are happy with the settings for the 256 MB card, why waste the memory on something more.

Personally, I use the settings for the 512 MB card. I am a little more particular, and I have the neeed memory.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,
Lance
