ActiveSync may be conflicting with an IP address that is assigned by your ISP on your cable modem. Or you might have a program running on your PC that is using one of ActiveSync's ports, which are: 990, 999, 5678, 5679.

Also, have you done a Windows Update yet. There might be windows issues with the TCP.
