Open ActiveSync on the PC. Without the Axim connected, select File/Delete Partnership. After you've deleted it, the next time you connect (which would be after the hard reset and after giving your Axim back the name you used. That name is set on the Axim itself - Settings/System/About/Device ID), you will be able to set up a new partnership.
