No my IBM Thinkpad with Windows 2000 Professional OS at work was USB 1.1. I had no problems. Did I miss which OS you're using?

Well, so much for the USB 2.0 theory. Here's another theory -- maybe the USB port can't deliver enough juice to properly maintain a connection with the cradle? Have you disabled USB power management? A USB hub should be able to supply a maximum of 5 volts at 1/2 amp to each port. I would check under the USB Power tab in USB Root Hub, Device Manager, to see how much power each port is using. Maybe the cradle needs a specific amperage that your USB hub can't deliver? I'm totally speculating here.
