Thanks everyone for their input so far.
I feel perhaps this is now moving away from the topic of the Axim slightly for which I apologise.
I've been out and with the limited availability of actual models in my area I have seen the Compaq 1910 and the Tungsten T.
The Compaq feels good, nice and slim, good screen and runs 2002. The TT is a more bulky and runs Palm 5.
I wonder if anyone could comment on which the Axim is more like in size and feel please?
As I originally stated, my main concern is the use of Excel. Commoved and Chrissss commented on the lack of features with Pocket Excel. This may or may not be a problem with fairly standard sheets I work with but I agree, a more comprehensive package must be better. I would have thought the Pocket would have been more like the original.
TT comes with Docs to go and it seems to handle my sheets fine - how does that compare with Tinysheet that was recommended?
These comments would have me reaching for the TT, then Professor Chaos comes back and says that 2002 is more flexible. At the end of the day however, all I want to do is organise tasks and run spreadsheets. It all very confusing when you have zilch experience.
The one shop I went to said that whatever I bought I would not be able to return, the other only had the TT and said I could have a 14 day approval period - I have had it for the last 6 hours. I'll try it out as see how I get on. I am very disappointed I could not try the Axim as it sounds superb. If the TT is not for me the Axim is next. Both are the same cost.
I really appreciate all your comments - thank you.
