I've come to believe that Bluetooth is currently, too young, too rare, and "in between" to have developers really putting massive time and effort into the project.

1) I've seen "bluetooth" cell phone items in stores for over 3 years. That might be part of the problem, as it was the cell developers and not the computer developers that were pushing the technology.

2) Latest Bluetooth stack? 1.2

3) Some PDAs and cell phones come with integrated Bluetooth. Any laptops? Desktops? Not to my knowlegde.

4) Let's face it...BT doesn't have the bandwidth of wi-fi, which is more accessible. It is faster and more useful than IR (line of sight not required), so BT's real functionality becomes in short-distance perphial (misspelled) support, once again limiting the overall market for the technology.

I like bluetooth in general, and I like the devices I have with it...but there have been challenges. Hopefully the industry will commit to this technology (IR is all but dead in that light for the future).
