WMP10 can sync your music through a card reader - as long as your PC sees it as a "USB Mass Storage Device". Since most MP3 players show up as the same thing in Windows, the sync capability is there.

All you have to do is go into the Options of WMP10 on your PC and select your card reader (when it shows up as an extra drive, like G: ) to set sync options. This drops a WMPInfo.xml file onto the root of the memory card, and a matching entry in your PC's registry. Now, whenever you connect the card through your card reader, the music should sync on your settings.

There is realistically no benefit to syncing onto a storage card THROUGH ActiveSync, if you have a card reader. Even the lucky few of us with WMP10 Mobile can still get album art synced if we use ActiveSync the first time, and then switch to using a card reader.

Why don't PPC makers bring their cradles up to USB 2.0 speeds, instead of this old serial crap? Sacrificing a devices ability to sync through a hardware COM port seems worthwhile in the new millenium!
