I have a Hitachi 4GB CF microdrive (which I love) and have been very frustrated by the USB 1.1 standard.

Inspired by your suggestion, I tried starting a sync process through the cradle and than stopping it once the file index had been created.

I then put the microdrive into a reader, and WMP10 immediately recognized it and begin syncing many times faster than it had through the cradle.

Thanks for the great suggestion. Now, if we could just get USB 2.0 standard on these things . . .
