There was an ASF plugin (unstable) available sometime ago for the unstable 0.96 release of Betaplayer. This also only worked on the A03 ROM revision.

In the end I just re-encoded all my WMV files into AAC which is supported by 0.5 of Betaplayer and works fine with the A05 ROM revision.
