"Free" WiFi at McDonalds
I took my grandson to McDonalds last night and tried the WiFi there. I believe some McDonalds have free Wifi, but this particular one was on WayPort and popped up a screen asking me how I'd like to pay. One of the options was by coupon, so I walked up to the counter and politely asked if they might have a trial coupon for the Wifi. I really didn't expect much from the shrugs I got, but a few minutes later one of the managers brought me a coupon good for one hour of access and apologized that it was all they had but the expiration date on it was 12/31/04. I plugged in the number and off we went! I don't know if the same coupon will work again; I think it was a one use thing.
While I was sitting in the McDonalds, I could also see two other Wifi connections, including one labeled "dental_office" that was likely coming from the dentist across the parking lot. Question: If I hadn't found a coupon to get onto the WayPort network at McDonalds, how could I have gotten the Axim to drop that strong signal and try to connect to a weaker one (that was possibly free)? I couldn't figure out how to drop a connection.
Thanks for all your help. You are all wonderful!
