What a cool term, War Walking. I'm not into War Walking myself ... too lazy. But I don't see the harm in using somebody else's wireless to grab an email. As long as you don't camp on their connection, use a lot of bandwidth, or try to attack their system -- where's the harm? I'll bet there's plenty of people who are "cross coupled" and don't even know it. Think of people in apartments, Maybe the Wireless access point downstairs or across the hall has a stronger signal than the one on the other side of your appartment.

Now if somebody has taken measures to keep other people out, then they've posted a "no trespassing" sign, and I would respect that. Definately no hacking tools, no tries for admin access, ... avoid the dark side.

But if it's wide open, then maybe the owner just doesn't mind giving a fellow human a break.

BTW - this activity is a good reason why we should all be running software firewalls on those PCs that are wirelessly connected. And make sure you change your WEP admin password. Sad but true, some people are more "adventurous" than others. And a very small number are outright malicious.
