axim x50 that doesn't like wireless
Ok, so I work at a school that it testing the axim x50s. We have a wireless set up and have been trying to get the axims to go wireless with no success. We went into the wlan utility and turned the wlan on and disabled the power saver mode. In config of that page we are getting good signal quality. Packets are being transmitted. In the setting tab of the wlan page we set the network card to connect to work (we did both work and internet) through the dell axim x50 wlan wireless adapter. We set up a specific ip address (we did both server-assigned and static ips). The only thing we didn't set up is the WINS. We weren’t really sure what that was. After doing that we can see the network (exchanging packets), but we can't get on the network. Then we went in and enabled odyssey client. It saw the network and had packets going in and out. Still no internet. Then we went into connections, went into advanced tab and chose select networks. We set both of the pull downs to My Work Network. Then we edited them both and went to the proxy settings and chose the box that says "This network connects to the internet". We did that for both. Still no internet. We called Dell and they tried to update the bios but it was the most current. We did a soft reset, which didn't help. Next we did a hard reset and set everything back up again. That didn't work either. I'm looking for any help. When we are using avantgo we can get on the internet. We just can't get to it when we are wireless. I would appreciate any help. We are stuck and if we can't figure it out we'll have to send them back and try something else.
Thanks
