If Dell has a new PDA by the time 2005 comes out then I doubt a upgrade will be offered. IF they decide to sell a x50v with 2005 os then it makes sense to offer a os upgrade (for a fee) since the R&D costs are taken care of. I don't expect a free upgrade. I bought a 2003SE unit and that is what I got. I only expect ROM updates as needed. Dell built a VGA unit unfortunately the os doesn't support it, but many third party programs do. The video issue you mentioned could be addressed with a ROM update and not a OS upgrade.
I don't know why people are so passionate they the deserve a OS upgrade. Never heard of people expecting a OS upgrade for thier pc's when the new windows comes out. You can purchase it but pc os upgrades are much simpler then ppc upgrades.
