Oops! I have answered my own question! I left flask running for 2 hours and it was only up to 13 percent for a half hour program, I let it carry on and shortly after it finished! So, not so bad as I thought.
When I re encoded it using virtual dub the resulting file (Sound: 44100, 16bit Stereo) came out as 180mb! So I re encoded it but this time with 22000 32bit mono and the file was a much more manageable 36 mb. Didnt realise lower sound quality would affect the size so much.
Also, as I am prfoundly deaf, I was pleased to see the Subtitles were clear and pretty easy to read (128 kb/s in Virtual dub)!
So, a big thank you to Fibrizo, your work on this forum is much appreciated, and your guides are easy to follow too.
Glad I didnt buy a Palm in the end!
