Click on the start menu, select settings, then sounds & notifications.
Make sure the system volume is set above silent, and put checks in the Events, Programs and notifications boxes.
Now click on the Notifications tab at the bottom of the screen.
Select the reminders event
Make sure Play sound and display message on screen are selected. Play the sound to confirm it has not been inadvertently deleted.
