It works!
First, allow me to apologize for bringing up an old thread. I did, however, just find the solution to my problem, and hopefully my post helps others when they do a Google search and find this thread.
As I mentioned before, I don't run a firewall, but I do run an anti-virus scanner, Norton AntiVirus 2005, which I tried disabling, but it did not help me connect my PDA to the computer.
I found today that when you select "Disable Auto-Protect", you are not fully disabling the system.
You see, it seems with the 2005 version, they have introduced a basic firewall within the Norton AntiVirus application (at least I think it's been introduced in 2005, I've not noticed it in older versions). This new feature is called the "Internet Worm Protection" and is not disabled when you disable Auto-Protect.
I found once I manually disabled the Internet Worm Protection in the Norton AntiVirus options menu, I was suddenly able to sync with my PDA wirelessly.
There are options in the Internet Worm Protection with Program Control and such, but I can't seem to access that menu for some reason. I also found this was the reason why I was unable to have others connect to various servers running on my computer.
As such, I've come to the conclusion that the Internet Worm Protection feature is evil and I have disabled it permanently (If I wanted firewall protection, I would have installed a firewall).
But anyway, I hope that's of some help.
