I know I should wll enough alone.  However, how do you know what system you use to connect and then should I update it if something like the Odyssey 4.0 shows up?

i'm not sure if this helps or is totally wrong, but when it is using the odyssey, the program shows
. check mark in "Connect to"
. "Status: Connected"
. "Network SSID:
"
doesn't this mean that is is using the client to connect to the AP?
as for which wireless you are using, on my x50v there is an indicator on the top that looks like the antenna to show that the Dell WiFi is on (also the steplike bars in the lower right corner are connected instead of broken horizontally).
i do not own another means of wifi (sd or cf based) so i do not know of those products, but there should be a program that runs like a wireless utility that might show it (is my guess).
