If worse comes to worst, and you are really sparing nothing to remove AS4 (and also depending on when you installed it), you can go into safe mode and system restore to a time before when you installed AS4 for the first time, so that any refernce to that program will not exist and any dirty system drivers that may be causing issues can also be purged.

Well, it is an extreme solution, but if THAT doesn't solve it, I don't know what could. So, if worse comes to worst, try that, and good luck!
