I have the same "problem"

I called Dell and the service rep offered to replace the unit.

I posted comments on Aximsite and Dell and the consensus is that the black and white areas on the bottom of the screen are normal. I'm bothered by the black and white areas if I pay attention to them and wonder if the unit is defective.

I think what's hard to determine by talking about the problem is if all the screens look the same or some screens have this problem worse than others. It would be nice if someone would photograph the bottom of their screen (looking down a bit) so everyone could see what is typical - normal...

Looks like people have all sorts of other problems with their Axim so I think if I sent the machine back, I might get another with other problems. Some people end up with refurbs...

So, unless it gets worse, I can live with the "normal" black and white areas.
