My 2 cents,

Drop the coin on an extra HD. Hard drive memory is cheap.... real cheap. Forget about the FAT and FAT32 limitations, format the new drive with NTFS and get busy/focused on your objectives. I'm as guilty as the next guy for trying to do stuff "on the cheap", but the bottom-line truth is... you get what you pay for. The result is... you get what you paid for.
