So after you deleted the partnership, were you prompted to create a new one when you tried syncing? What happened?
Reinstalling AS is not very difficult. Try the latest version
here.
My suggestion for a last resort would be to do a hard reset.

Hopefully Frenchy will some less drastic ideas.
