Point 5 is all well and good but with large files all my ram is gone! I have to manually transfer the files to me SD card (I know there are bigger problems in the world). As a compromise ActivSync could allow syncing to BIS.....

I don't necessarily disagree - that is why I use Mightysync to do this
BTW - syncing to BIS is fine with your unit but a lot of older units have a tiny BIS/ Filestore and this would cause issues for those users.
