Hopefully I will be able to get the seller to change the address and contact info over to me without any issues. I don't know why it matters anyway since it still is under warranty.

Well if they refuse to transfer the warranty then you can tell ur gf's dad to do a chargeback to the seller since they provided you a defective product whichi i strongly doubt is what ur gf's dad paid for :)
