Active sync stopped working

After 4 months my Axim X50v stopped syncing. I have done soft resets, hard resets. Reinstalled activesync, dell usb drivers and all software. Still no luck. I read somewhere that removing the sd card might help and lo and behold it does, however, this does not seem like a real solution to the problem. I do not want to remove the card everytime I want to sync my axim. I have the latest version of activesync and AO3. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
