Soft resets wouldn't do it. It's just time. What I do is when I pull out my stylus, I take a few moments and rub it on my shirt/pants/whatever cloth is available. It gets rid of junk on the end and helps protect my screen :)

I reset lots and it can snag on the side of the hole even more so with a case. If interested here is the link to soft reset apps discussion.
