Sorry you didn't find it helpful.. I was asking a rhetorical question to illustrate the point, and try to clarify the question.

Windows XP does not need the patches from windows 98 as it is a different product. However many of the problems (and security issues) that existed in 98 are addressed directly in windows xp*)

Other issues in windows XP are addressed by updates to the os itself.

With Windows mobile at the moment the way that Microsoft (and its oem s) choose to apply these fixes is with a ROM update (eg A03) which re-installs the OS and the fixes at the same time. This may change in the future.

I'm sorry you failed to see my point - And until you have a copy of WM5 you don't need to worry about it anyway!







*I realise that this isn't a perfect metaphor and there are all sorts of techie issues that i am glossing over... but bear with me.
