What is the use of RSS feed ?????

For us, small foreigners, it's easier to create a XML file in a website to provide rss feed, than create the AvantGo channel procedure...
I use it daily for :
Weather feed, What is on TV ?, and many newspapers... (ecologic, economic, sociologic... and many words in IC !!!
