Am I expecting too much?

Just got my Axim 300Mhz. I decided to try a few things out since it's the fastest PDA I've ever owned. I took my 128Mb CF card and put a windows media file (video) on it and couldn't believe how badly it played, I mean dropping 8 out of 10 frames! I installed pocket quake .062, again very choppy. This was installed in the onboard 32Mb. Okay, so am I expecting too much or am I doing something wrong or...? By way of comparison, my old Casio BE-300 with a 166Mhz MIPS processor handled .avi files much, much better.
