In order to edit shortcuts, you first need to copy them to your computer, then open them in a text editor. BE SURE TO HAVE THE CORRECT PATH!!!
This isn't like editting a Windows shortcut.
Also, always back up what you change in case you goof.
As for changing the folders, you should try googling up one of the cab install apps so you can choose the path yourself.
I'm a Mac guy, so I know what you mean when you say you want it clean...I just take it to a whole new level of anal retentiveness.
