Well for me it goes 0 - 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 and that is where I get sound on the X50v.
Yes it is too loud I agree. What you need to do is go into the "Effects" menu, turn the equaliser on and turn down the "pre-amp". This gives a much more sensitive control of the sound at low volume.
